FAQ

Got questions? Here you’ll find quick answers about booking, payments, accessibility, and what to expect on your private tour.

  • How do I book a private tour?
You can book directly through our website or by phone. Once you choose your date, we’ll confirm all details and customize your itinerary based on your interests.
  • When do I pay for the tour?
Payment is not required until after your tour is complete. This is unique to us and allows you to experience your day before making payment.
  • Where will you pick us up?
We offer door-to-door pickup and drop-off from your hotel, vacation rental, cruise terminal, or another agreed-upon location in the New Orleans area.
  • How many people can join a private tour?
The luxury Lincoln Navigator seats up to six adult passengers comfortably. Larger groups can be accommodated with custom pricing and arrangements.
  • Can you customize the itinerary?
Yes. Every tour is built around your interests, whether that means history, architecture, music, food, plantations, or a combination. We can adjust the route and timing during the tour as well.
  • Are your tours good for seniors or guests with mobility needs?
Absolutely. We can choose stops with better accessibility, store mobility devices during travel, and assist with vehicle entry and exit. Walking portions can be minimized if preferred.
  • How long are your tours?
Tours typically range from 4 to 8 hours. We can tailor the length to fit your schedule, whether you want a half-day or a full-day experience.
  • What will we see on a city tour?
Popular highlights include the French Quarter, Garden District, historic cemeteries, City Park, Bayou St. John, and scenic riverfront views. We can also include hidden neighborhoods and local favorites.
  • What will we see on a plantation tour?
We often visit Laura Plantation and Oak Alley Plantation, combining history, architecture, and the Mississippi River corridor’s landscapes. Other plantation sites can be arranged on request.
  • Is food included in the tour?
Food is not included in the tour price, but we can stop for meals, snacks, or coffee at recommended local spots during your tour.
  • Do you operate tours in bad weather?
Tours run rain or shine, with adjustments made for guest comfort and safety. If severe weather makes travel unsafe, we will work with you to reschedule.
  • How far in advance should I book?
We recommend booking as early as possible to secure your preferred date, especially during busy seasons, festivals, and cruise port days.
  • How is a Henley's private tour different from a walking tour?
Our private tours offer more comfort, flexibility, and coverage than walking tours. You travel in a luxury SUV with climate control, see more of the city in less time, and avoid the physical strain of long walking routes.
  • Why choose Henley’s Private Tours over a walking tour?
With Henley’s, you get a licensed local guide dedicated to your group only, a customized itinerary, door-to-door pickup, and the ability to adjust your day as you go. You also enjoy detailed storytelling while comfortably seated between stops, making the experience more personal and less exhausting.
  • Can we start the tour at one location and end at another?
Yes. We can arrange to drop you off at a different location within the New Orleans area, such as a restaurant, hotel, or the cruise port, as long as it is planned in advance.
  • What should we bring on the tour?
We recommend comfortable clothing, walking shoes, a hat or sunscreen for sunny days, and a camera. You are welcome to bring your own snacks or beverages.
  • Do you offer kid-friendly tours?
Yes. We can adapt tours to be engaging for children by including more interactive stops, shorter walking segments, and family-friendly storytelling.
  • Is gratuity included in the price?
Gratuity is not included in the tour price. Tipping is appreciated if you feel your tour was exceptional.
  • Can we book a tour last-minute?
If we have availability, we are happy to accommodate last-minute bookings. We recommend contacting us directly by phone for the quickest response.
  • Do you operate tours during Mardi Gras or other major events?
Yes, but routes and pickup locations may be adjusted due to road closures and crowd restrictions. We will work with you to plan the best experience possible during these busy times.
