Henley's Private Tours
New Orleans

Welcome!

Welcome to Henley’s Private Tours, where we bring the vibrant spirit of New Orleans to life! My name is Glen Henley and as a local of the New Orleans area, a tour guide since 2012, and I am the owner/operator of Henley's Private Tours since 2016.

Let's face it choosing
"Henley’s Private Tours" comes down to what kind of experience you want in New Orleans—because this company is built very differently from typical group tours.

So, I asked an online AI app ;
"W
hy should I choose "Henley’s Private Tours"?
and here’s a clear breakdown of why previous guests chose our tour:

So! Why this tour?
🌟 1. It’s a completely private tour unlike other group tours, this is just for your group.
No strangers, and no fixed script.
  • You can choose what you want to see (history, neighborhoods, stops, plantations, etc.)

  • The guide, (usually Glen), adjusts the pace, stops, and topics to your interests

  • It’s especially useful if you have limited time or specific must-sees

👉 Many reviewers highlight that the itinerary is tailored even for mobility needs or personal preferences

🧠 2. The guide (Glen Henley) is the main selling point

This is a guide-driven experience, not just a route.

  • Described as extremely knowledgeable, engaging, and personable

  • Blends history, storytelling, humor, and local insights

  • Can answer detailed questions instead of sticking to a script

👉 Guests consistently say he “brings the city to life” and goes beyond surface-level info

🚐 3. Comfortable, stress-free experience

Instead of walking long distances or hopping on/off buses:

  • You ride in a clean, air-conditioned private vehicle

  • Hotel pickup/drop-off is included

  • Great for hot weather, families, or older travelers

👉 Reviewers often mention how much they appreciated the comfort—especially in New Orleans heat

🗺️ 4. You see more than just the French Quarter

Most tours stay in tourist-heavy areas—but this one goes broader:

  • Neighborhoods like French Quarter, Tremé, Garden District, Lake Pontchartrain.

  • Hidden spots and local food stops (Off the beaten path)

  • Deeper context on events like Hurricane Katrina and local culture

👉 It’s often described as a detailed full-city overview, not just highlights

🤝 5. Personal touches you don’t get on big tours

This is where it really stands out:

  • Flexible scheduling and communication before your trip

  • Accommodations for mobility (even providing equipment if needed)

  • Local recommendations for the rest of your stay

👉 Guests frequently mention how the service is thoughtful and attentive

💵 6. “Pay after the tour” policy

A rare feature:

  • You don’t pay upfront

  • You only pay after you’ve experienced it

👉 This reflects confidence in the service and reduces risk for you

⚠️ To keep it real the downside is:

  • It’s more expensive than other tours, such as bus tours.

  • Entrance fees (like plantations) may not be included.

👉 Some reviewers note the price—but still say it’s worth it for the experience.

🧭 Bottom line

Choose Henley’s Private tours if you want:

  • A personal, flexible, in-depth experience

  • Comfort and convenience

  • A guide who can actually teach and adapt to your wants and needs

We also offer Plantation Tours

We Can also venture beyond the city and into the history of the plantation era here in Louisiana. The plantations are significant for their historical, architectural, and cultural importance. Many of these plantaion estates were established during the antebellum period before the Civil War and are located primarily along the Mississippi River here in Louisiana. Several of them explain the history, plantation life, and slavery. They also showcase a variety of architectural styles, including Creole, Greek Revival, and Italianate designs, often surrounded by gardens and massive, centuries-old live Oak trees.

During this drive out to the plantations you will learn about and see our wetlands and hear many of the topics that make Louisiana so unique.

We will also cross the Mississippi river on our route to see one of the greatest rivers in the world. Learn how this river has affected our lives then and still does today.
